DISHONESTY VS HONESTY

Unfortunately life has its ups and downs.  Life is challenging and risky I get that.  I think the hardest thing for me is when I do whats right, but come out on the bottom.  A Sense of betrayal, if you will!!! I hate being punished for being truthful!!!
A positive blog, not tonight.... My heart aches, we have been kicked down!!! But for those of you who know me, know me well... I WILL get back up. This life is a fight, a battle if you will, we can choose to get discouraged along the way or we can use life's lessons to make us stronger.

When I am down, and oh my soul, so weary.
When troubles come, and my heart burdened be.
Then I am still and wait here in the silence.
Until You come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains.
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas.
I am strong when I am on your shoulders.
You raise me up to more than I can be.

There is no life Eno life without its hunger.
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly.
But when you come and I am filled with wonder.
Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains.
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas.
I am strong when I am on your shoulders.
You raise me up to more than I can be

First Day of SCHOOL!!!!

 FLEXIBILITY AND CREATIVITY!!!!

Are the two words the came to mind today as we started Our First day of School at the Omaha Zoo.... I am so blessed to have spent the day with my children and a wonderful lady who has taken my kids under her wing to represent a Grandmother figure....  To reflect back on this past school year and how I doubted being obedient to the calling of homeschooling due to the fear that initialy paralysed me, I wonder how many times we live with regret because of choices we are afraid to make or lack of due to the fear of the unknown??? I almost missed out on the opportunity and challenge before me. As this year has begun, I embrace the difficulties that lie ahead, I am aware of the mountain I must climb, and the challenges before me. BUT now instead of fear I accept it with great anticipation, excitement and trust!!!

And now the fun begins........

At our intern meeting today, we were notified of a project that we have to come up with......
1) Create an idea that the camp can do as an outreach
2) Design a plan for the idea
3) Organize the idea
4) Network the idea
We will then come back together and discuss everyone's idea and brainstorm the possibilities of implementing the idea!!!!
Sooo, I need ideas?????
On another note, I met with a CO-OP mom today, and she is willing to give Kirk Art lessons, which is answer to prayers. We start school tomorrow, however our first day will be spent at the Omaha ZOO!! Very educational....

ADVENTURE CAMPING

When talking with Mike while he was away on his trip to South Dakota I had asked him how the trip was going? His response was "Very Breath taking" I started pondering on all the things that the Lord finds breath taking, my thoughts didnt go far as I started thinking about the blessings of family.  Mike was sitting on the edge of a cliff watching the sunset in God's creation, and YET WE are the most important thing he has created.  We are fearfully and wonderfully made in HIS image. WOW!! Sometimes we can be a sight to see.... BUT, not such a postive one.  We are to bear such good fruit so that we are witnessess to those around us.  How about you? When God looks at me, I want him to be able to say.... "She is breathtaking, she bears such good fruit"

I think the hardest place to bear such good fruit is amongst our family!! Sometimes, we are too comfortable around them and often times throw "little fits" of selfishness.  We only think about ourselves and quickly forget the act of kindness, and giving to those around us.  I was often times reminded and the reason I was able to have peace with Mike being gone was that he was given this wonderful opportunity to explore and do this adventure that he would not have other wise been able to do! Mike sacrifces for his family time and time again.  He has stepped up to be the father and husband God has called him to be, and I had to respect his time. It gave me such a great feeling knowing he was enjoying himself, and connecting with the other interns.  I also was given an opportunity to develope a deeper relationship with the children as we found ourselves many creative things to do together while passing the time.  During this week, I was reminded of how important family is.  I started to admire all the husbands/wives who have to be seperated from their loved ones for various reasons, and it made me realize one thing.  I am definately now your prayer partner when it comes to this!!
The week flew by and we quickly reunited. We shared our experiences, and accomplishments of the week.
He had hiked up Harney's Peak, Sat and watched the sunset, explored Mt Rushmore, Hike and Repelled, and shared and connected with the other interns.  Back at home, we were able to Sleep in and snuggle, went bowling, swimming, went to Pizza HUT (courtesy of the Folgers) played board games, and had a Big Brother Marathon!!! The memories we build and share with each other are priceless.. Our priorities in life need to be that we remember and value one another in a way that when we look at each other, OUR Families we say "BREATHTAKING"

Intern Training

Yesterday we went out to the Huhut Mongalian in Omaha for intern orientation and dinner, afterwards we had a nice small concert!! The evening was wonderful, felt great to actually look nice for once, as it is hard to do that while we work outside all day, or in the kitchen that requires you to wear a hat all day!!! Today we started training.  We learned how to do the ZipLine, Highropes, mini bikes, and archary.  Sunday we will learn the rock wall and how to belay!! The kids got to jump from the highropes, and had a lot of fun... As I was learing how to ride a MINIBIKE... I dumped it, yes I tipped the thing over.. It never ceases to amaze me that humor follows us everywhere.  As I was getting up of the ground I looked up and saw everyone laughing, while doubled over, with tears coming out of their eyes! Nice to know that I can still entertain, quite easily. I will post pictures later.  Mike leaves Monday @ 8:00 a.m. for South Dakota for an adventure outing... I need strength to get through this as I am heartsick over not being able to go!! ON a plus note we are all going to South Dakota over Labor day Weekend to an outside festival called LifeLight... We are soo pumped about that!!! More on those details later.....

Support Letter!

Dear family and friends;
We are happy to announce that God has opened a door that will be leading us to Fremont, Nebraska immediately.  Mike will be an intern for a camp called Camp Rivercrest .  We will be partnering with a ministry called Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) “The Alliance”.   As passionate and excited as we are about this opportunity, we are also very saddened that we will be leaving.  We began this journey over two years ago when Mike gave his life to the Lord.  Shortly thereafter, God put a calling in our hearts to go into camp ministry.  We were challenged many times with our faith, trust, and control.  The Lord knows our plans for us, plans to proper us and not to harm us, to give us a future.  Jeremiah 29:11.
We have made ourselves willing and available to serve Him, to be His hands and feet, and further the kingdom of God to give His name glory.  We could not have done this without the prayers and support of so many people.  In order to pursue this calling, we have chosen to give up our jobs and are humbly asking for prayer and financial support?  We would ask that you consider partnering with us with a monthly gift or giving a one-time gift.  Your gift will make it possible for us to focus on learning ministry in the camp setting so that we can pursue our life call. Your donations are tax deductible, and you would receive a year end receipt.  Checks can be made out to Camp Rivercrest and put Solmen’s in the memo line. You can send your donations to 2840 County Road 13 Fremont, NE 68025.  Our Goal is to raise $20,000 for our first year.
Again, as we start this new chapter of our lives, everyone will be missed. There is no better place than to be in the will of God and with that said we are blessed to know that you have been a huge part of our lives.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Thank You and May God bless you as you consider partnering with us in this adventure.
The Solmen’s

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt 19:26

The Alliance is living the Call Together.
The Alliance family is diverse and united. More than 400,000 believers worship in 31 languages in 2,000 U.S. Alliance churches, with 30,000 Alliance churches throughout the world. Living the Call Together, the Alliance slogan, describes what The Alliance is and does—a union of worldwide churches that are living out the preeminence of Jesus and fulfilling His Great Commission.
Following Jesus is not intended to be a solitary journey. As a family of believers, we uphold each other in the faith, bring comfort when needed, celebrate life together, and combine resources to accomplish God’s work. We can do much more together than we can do apart. That is the challenge our founder, A. B. Simpson, gave to believers more than 100 years ago. And that is what has made The Alliance one of the most effective mission’s organizations the world has known.
When it comes to sharing the reason for our hope, faith, and joy, we reach more people when we work together. Our partnership in building Christ’s Church worldwide is getting the job done!  In The Alliance, we believe that our mission blends both the concept of being and doing. In being with Jesus and sitting at His feet, our lives are transformed. As we grow in relationship with Him, we desire to know Him more deeply as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.  We are ordinary people from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds, obeying Jesus’ command to complete His Great Commission. Empowered by our extraordinary God, we are doing our part to go and make disciples of all nations.
Being.
Sitting at Jesus’ feet, devoting ourselves to prayer and immersion in His Word radically transforms us. It also increases our hunger to go deeper in our relationship, to know Him as our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
Doing.
Motivated by our love for Jesus, we are compelled to serve Him. Alliance Great Commission Ministries are the expression of our service to Jesus, the means by which we seek to complete the mission.
The Vision for Ministry
We believe that God’s instrument to complete this mission is His Church. That’s why we focus our efforts and resources into developing dynamic, healthy local churches—in the United States and across the world. To accomplish the vision, we will develop healthy people (fully devoted followers of Christ), who will build these churches serving as ministry centers to successfully win the lost. Out of these ministry centers and churches will flow international workers committed to pushing back the darkness in areas where unengaged, unreached people groups abound.

After two weeks we are settled into our house, as much as we possibly can!!!! It definitely feels like a home, with a few things to work out!!!  Emotions are running high, as a dear friend lost her son earlier this week.. Calling hours are tomorrow and we cant be there to support her.  With the move, and jumping in with two feet exhaustion is setting in..... The kids are missing home, but are blessed to have some of the advantages to the camp.. Kirk got hired to actually work around camp.  So far he has done 'snack shack'  Mike gets to take his first "adventure outing" in September to Colorado.  The kids and I will not be able to go on this one... (with tears) Anyways, on a plus note to everything, everyone seems so amazed by our ability and hard work. Even lil' Lyv as gotten many compliments!! Love and Miss everyone!!

A New Blogger

Dear Friends and Family;
I created a blog so that we could stay in contact.  I ask for continued support and prayer as we begin our new journey.  An adventure of faith, risks and challenges.  A passion to pursue a calling that God placed on our hearts.  I hope you may find this beneficial, and May God bless you all!!!
Love and Miss you,
The Solmens
