A Family Is Like

© Nicole M. O'Neil
A Family is like a circle
the connection never ends
and even if at times it breaks
in time it always mends
a family is like the stars
somehow there always there
families are those who help
who support and always care A Family is like a book
the endings never clear but through the pages of the book
their love is always near A family is many things
with endless words that show who they are and what they do
and how they teach you so you know but don’t be weary if it's broken or if through time its been so worn families are like that- they're split up and always torn
but even if this happens your family will always be
they help define just who you are
And will be apart of you eternally
Our family had the opportunity to spend a family day together on Sunday.  After going to church, we took a leisurly two hour nap, followed by a 1 mile race!!! Owen completed in 5:48, followed by Mike at 6:38, followed by Lyv at 6:43 and last BUT NOT least...... ME @ (drum roll please...... 9:27!!!!!)  hahaha... although that is completely and utterly funny it WAS my BEST time for a MILe!!! I am working on it!!!
Then we headed out to camp and went on a hike.... Beautiful, we rested upon a scenic spot to do some peaceful fishing, while I read... Lyv and Owen were very creative with their time as well!!! It is not the quantity of time spent with family rather than the quality, that makes the memories!!!   I am truly blessed with such an amazing FAMILY!!!

Mother/Daughter Retreat

PSALM 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made”
We had a great speaker along with a wonderful band.  It was great to work together as a mother/daughter!!! It is so rewarding to spend time with a Mother's greatest treasure in life; HER DAUGHTER- It's moments like these that I really cherish.  I don't ever want to take for granted our relationship.  I love her with everything I have and so thankful the miracle and blessing she is.....

A baby girl...one of the most beautiful miracles in life, one of the greatest joys we can ever know, and one of the reasons why there is a little extra sunshine, laughter and happiness in your world today.

A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.  ~Author Unknown

It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.

Our first Co-OP Class

We had our first CO-OP class today! It went great.  Mike is teaching wood shop.  Co-Op classes are elective classes the homeschool kids get to have all together.  Each parent volunteers to teach something that could be of interest to the children.. The following is a list of the electives the kids are doing...
KIRK: Intro to Psych
Consumer Math (budgeting, banking, record Keeping)
          Wood Shop/Wiring
OWEN: Wood Shop
(I cant remember the other class for him)
Lyvvie: Gym, health/Nurtrition, Art, Music, Science

We are looking forward to this year.  It should be fun and excting... In addition to this Kirk has a biology class on Monday evening he is doing, and we enrolled all three kids in Awanas as well!!! So the kids are pretty overloaded with classes, so I think we should be okay~~

Footsteps In The Sand

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during
the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I need you the most
you would leave me."

The Lord replied,
"My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then I carried you."

"Remember when" BY Alan Jackson

This song was dedicated to me on our 10th year anniversary FIVE YEARS AGO....Mike sang it to me, while playing the guitar.  I can't believe the road that we have walked along.  It's hard to believe that 15 years ago Mike and I became one. Our marriage has had many ups and downs like many marriages, but through the good times, the bad times, the strong times, and the broken times we have learned to put God in the center of our marriage, which ultimately saved our marriage two years ago!!! We are able to weather the storm because of our faithfulness and love for each other, but most importantly because of the Love for God that we share...
I remember the day I found out I was pregnant, I was only 16.
I remember the day I had our son, Kirk.. Our first, breathtaking miracle-our bundle of joy, our blessing!
I remember the first day we got our first apartment-Feb. 6, 1996
I remember us sharing my grief together as I lost my father in the battle of cancer
I remember our second breathtaking miracle, Owen. His smile lit our hearts...
I remember the next several years of health issues tearing at our core; my back surgery that had me down and out for 3 months, the two miscarriages that left me heartbroken
I remember when we finally shared in the joy of our third breathtaking miracle, our precious little girl, Lyvvie
I remember when life on earth was hell, when our world was rocked upside down dealing with the agonizing torment we shared, for over a year, from something so personal in our lives
I remember when the drinking became so routine, that i was often left feeling alone, isolated and rejected
I remember the fits of rage, anger and hate. The yelling, screaming and fighting
I remember when once again we were forced to deal with tragedy with the loss of your Grandmother, mother, and brother
I remember when a friend was a lifeline and recommendded a "getaway", and graciously offered us their lakehouse.  A book entitled "Love and Respect" and a movie "Fireproof"
I remember when that just wasn't enough, we decided to separate
I remember when you asked the Lord into your heart Oct 9, 2009 and His redeeming grace saved you and restored our marriage
I remember when we felt the call to go into ministry, which meant we would have to leave our friends and family but that we would share the road together, accept the challenge and move out of state in faith,  knowing there wasn't a better place to live but in the will of God
I remember when we made a vow to stay together through good times and bad times, sickness and health to death due us part!!
I remember on Sept. 7th, 1996 on this day I married my friend, the one I live with, laugh with, dream with and LOVE......
I remember the love I had, have, and will always have for you
I love you Mike!!!
